From the Pastor…
Light four candles to watch for Messiah: let the light banish darkness. He is coming, tell the glad tidings. Let your lights be shining! (Worship hymnal #240)
I’m a young parent. My spouse and I are expecting our second child. The “waiting and anticipation” of the Advent season takes on new meaning this year!
What kind of life are we inviting into the world? Are we ready? Do we have the resources to give this new being a good life? Will there be a community to surround this child with love?
The incarnation of God in the world is not simply in the coming of someone else – it is us! We may wait for someone else to come along – another powerful speaker, another person with gifts that will draw people together and bring peace. We may long for the day that all the world’s troubles will be fixed, and that God can do good things again. However, the coming of God – the source of life and love – is an ongoing effort. It is up to people who are already here; others who have walked the earth have carried it out. We are God-incarnate in the world!
While I wait and anticipate the new addition to my family, I must work to prepare, I must make decisions about what is important and what isn’t, I must involve myself in what it’ll take to be ready when the child comes.
I ask that you please help my family and I in the work of ‘living ready’ – ready for our new family addition, but also ready for what it means to be All Saints Lutheran in this Okanagan community. -Pastor Tyler Gingrich

“Were You Aware?”
Since 2004, numerous organizations — from community-based groups in mining affected regions of Guatemala, to NGOs, to the United Nations — have been investigating and denouncing the harms and violations caused by companies like Goldcorp Inc, HudBay Minerals, etc.As yet, to no avail.
Backed by the wealthy and politically powerful sectors inside Guatemala, backed by the Canadian government and corporate-investor sectors in North America, mining companies operate, in Guatemala, with next to complete impunity. The legal system in Guatemala is weak, at best, and corrupted, at worse, and offers no remedy. In Canada, there is virtually no criminal or civil legislation that can be used to hold companies accountable in Canadian courts.
With gold prices at near all time highs, Goldcorp Inc continues to make extraordinary profits unchecked.
