From the Pastor…

Tables are laden with good things; oh, taste the peace and joy he brings. He’ll fill you up with love divine; he’ll turn your water into wine. (Worship hymnal #531)

I have much for which to be thankful.

I am thankful for a beautiful and healthy family.  I am thankful for a comfortable place to rest each night.  I am thankful for abundant food and enough fresh water so I do not go hungry or thirst.  I am thankful that there is peace in this country so I don’t need to live in fear of violence.  I am thankful for the freedom to participate in elections, and to speak openly.  I am thankful for access to health care and education system.

I am thankful for this congregation of All Saints.  I am thankful that we are part of a wider church so there is a support structure and standards for our existence, and yet we have autonomy so we can be ourselves.  I am thankful that this community is on the Reconciling In Christ roster because it has meant we can serve our neighbour in ways  virtually no other church community in the Okanagan has been able to.  I am thankful that this congregation is supporting campus ministry at UBCO – and that we see ourselves as part of an ecumenical network in doing that ministry.

I am thankful for all this and more.  I see that with which I am gifted as something to share with others and something that urges me in to generous living. -Pastor Tyler Gingrich

“PROPHETIC WORDS FOR OUR DAY”

Do what matters.

You’ll get no argument from me. We are living through challenging times. We are, most likely, going to have to figure out a whole new way of being and doing church together. We might even have to figure out a new way of doing life. But we cannot allow ourselves to be demoralized by scarcity, consumed by self-pity, cornered into self-absorption, or paralyzed by fear. Christ is risen! Indeed, the kingdom of God is among you (Lk. 17:21).

There are no more excuses.

Keep your eyes open. Learn to pay attention to the things Christ is doing in, through, and all around you. When you see things that are making God smile, jump in and help. When you see something that is breaking God’s heart, use what you have and who you are to do something about it. Wherever you see God at work, jump on board, join in, and be a part of it.

Do what matters. Now.

For a smile…

A boy asks his father to use the car to which his father replies “Not until you cut your hair!”.
The boy replies “But father…Jesus had long hair!”
To which his father says, “Yeah, and Jesus walked everywhere.”
